International artists contribute to charity fundraiser

450 postcard-sized artworks will be sold at auction on Thursday 17th November to raise money for Art on A Postcard, the fundraising arm of The Hepatitis C Trust. The charity is working towards the elimination of Hepatitis C as a major public health concern in the UK by 2030.

Stunning postcard works have been created by international names such as Damien Hirst, Peter Blake, Grayson Perry, Maggie Hambling, Oliver Jeffers, Harland Miller, Gilbert & George, Dan BaldwinDean FoxRobi Walters and Chris Moon.

Why make Art On A Postcard?

Gemma Peppe, Director of Art On A Postcard, hand-picked each artist participating in the project. She claims that these works, though small in size, carry enormous significance.

“We were conscious to create something that was truly inclusive and engaging,” she explains, “but that also was true to our current economic and political landscape.”

“Postcard sized artwork does just that.”

“Small works of art are a symbol of the austerity we have been living through, economical for our artists to make and our audience to buy, perfectly sized to fit easily onto the wall of a London apartment, and if none of the above, great, collectible, artworks in their own merit.”

Maddox Gallery is preparing for auction day

Bidders have been able to view these fantastic artworks online from the 27th October, and in person during a one-week exhibition opened at Maddox Gallery on the 12th November. There will also be a private viewing on the evening of the 14th November.

The charity fundraiser will be open to a global audience, as Art On A Postcard has partnered with The Auction Room to run a live webcast auction. This will make it possible for any art lovers to watch the auction live and place bids online on the 17th November.
