Maddox Gallery played host to HRH Countess of Wessex this week, as she visited the gallery to view the prestigious ORO exhibition from Colombian conceptual painter Pedro Ruiz. She was accompanied by Colombia’s first Lady as part of the President of Colombia’s first ever State Visit.
The official visit took place on Wednesday 2nd November and Maddox Gallery were proud to arrange a private viewing of their current exhibition in collaboration with the Colombian Embassy “Oro” by Colombian artist Pedro Ruiz.
Her Royal Highness and the First Lady were welcomed to the gallery by Maddox Gallery Director Cordelia de Freitas, Chairman James Nicholls and his wife and Sales Director Matthew Lord. They were then shown round this prestigious exhibition by the artist himself, Pedro Ruiz.
Ruíz has received many awards and distinctions for his unique perspective and talent. Most recently, he was conferred the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) by the French government for his contribution to Colombian art.
“It was an honour to work with the Colombian Embassy and the whole team at Maddox Gallery were delighted to welcome a Royal and the First Lady to their gallery.” commented James Nicholls
