Maddox Gallery are delighted to announce the opening of our first official international gallery in Gstaad, Switzerland. With three successful exhibition spaces in London, this fourth location is housed in a traditional chalet in the picturesque and iconic Alpine resort. The new space has already received highly acclaimed reviews, and was seen in the Financial Times prestigious “How To Spend It” section.
The Alpina, Gstaad’s premier contemporary luxury hotel, offers a sophisticated balance of architecture, interior design, art and culture. Since its opening in 2012, the property has successfully integrated contemporary style and the beauty and heritage of Alpine traditions with the utmost respect for the environment. The Alpina partners with to.org, a charitable foundation, to create events which highlight worthy causes.
Maddox Gallery Gstaad, opened to the public on December 23rd with an inaugural exhibition dedicated to the work of the world’s leading wildlife photographer, David Yarrow. The gallery has joined forces with The Alpina Gstaad and to.org to support some of the world’s most deserving social causes, including communities, wellbeing, nutrition, resources, wildlife and environmental preservation. A number of projects are in development, and the gallery looks forward to achieveing many successes from this joint philanthropic venture.
David Yarrow has taken a fundamental role in this partnership, beginning with the donation of his Chicago image It’s Only a Matter of Time, which was offered at a New Year’s auction at The Alpina Gstaad. The proceeds from the sale benefit to.org’s efforts to build a community center in the refugee camp at Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The number of Rohingya refugees at the camp is estimated to be nearing 1 million people. Mr. Yarrow’s limited edition print raised $65’000 at the auction, and immediately contributes to making a difference during the crisis, helping to improve the lives of these displaced citizens.
